1847 Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC.
Original golden-honey surfaces are enhanced by tinges of deep olive. Softly frosted in texture and near-fully lustrous. The 1847 is the most available half eagle from its decade in terms of total number of coins known, but it remains scarce to rare in the finest About Uncirculated and all Mint State grades. This thoroughly PQ example is sure to sell for a nice premium. A prominent, nearly bisecting obverse crack from the border between the digits 47 in the date that extends well in Liberty's portrait is of interest to variety collectors.
