Description

1836 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-7. Rarity-3. AU-55 (PCGS).
Delightful golden-apricot and warm olive colors are seen on both sides of this sharply defined and lustrous AU half eagle. Nine different die combinations produced more than half a million 1836 half eagles, the second largest production run among Classic Head $5 pieces. After the first year 1834, the 1836 is the most readily obtainable half eagle of this type. Most survivors are well worn and a fair number are impaired. Finding choice, problem free About Uncirculated examples is becoming increasingly difficult.
PCGS# 8174. NGC ID: 25RY.
From the Fairmont Collection - CAG Set.

Estimate: $2000
