1847 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. OC-2. Rarity-1. MS-62 (PCGS).
Delightful satin to semi-reflective surfaces are enhanced by speckled peripheral toning in iridescent charcoal-russet and olive-blue. The vast majority of survivors from the relatively generous mintage of 140,750 pieces are worn to one degree or another, indicative of extensive commercial use. Like all silver dollar issues from the 1840s, the 1847 is elusive even at the lowest reaches of Mint State. The present example represents an important bidding opportunity for type collectors as well as silver dollar enthusiasts.
