1838 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Reeded Edge. HALF DOL. GR-15. Rarity-3. MS-64 (PCGS).
Highly lustrous surfaces are near-fully brilliant on the obverse, noticeably toned in pretty iridescent colors around the periphery and central device on the reverse. The Reeded Edge Capped Bust half dollars of 1836 to 1839 are among the more conditionally challenging types in the classic U.S. coinage series. This obviously important, near-Gem representative of the distinct HALF DOL reverse variety is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a high quality type set.
PCGS# 6177. NGC ID: 24G5.
