Description

New York--New York. (ca. 1825-1829) Richard Trested. Rulau-E NY 922. Rarity-7. Brass. Reeded Edge. MS-63 (NGC).
24 mm. An outstanding Trested card of this type. Though not quite the equal of the likely finest known example (Ford XXIII:22072), this one may well be superior to any other one known. Intermingled olive-gold and olive-green with blue and rose accents. Sharp and uniform in appearance, with traces of original luster. Clearly finer than the holed specimen we sold for $3,565 in 2004, and considerably so.
From our sale of he John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XXIII, August 2013, lot 22074. Lot tag included.

Estimate: $2500
