1900 Bryan Dollar. HK-1014, Schornstein-13. Rarity-9. Silver. AU Details--Improperly Cleaned (NGC).
38 mm. Really an attractive piece despite the stated qualifier, the obverse (which is illogically mounted as the reverse in the NGC holder) exhibits pretty iridescent toning in steely-copper, deep rose and golden-rose. The reverse exhibits lighter sandy-silver patina around the periphery, the center essentially untoned with a concentration of hairlines from mishandling. All design elements are sharp. This is the first example of this rare HK number that your cataloger (JLA) can recall handling in more than two decades of professional numismatic cataloging, and its offering in this sale represents a fleeting opportunity for specialists. From a limited number of pieces distributed by the Los Angeles firm of Montgomery Bros. during the 1900 presidential campaign.
