1867 Libertas Americana / J.A. Bolen Store Card. Musante JAB-30, Rulau Ma-Sp 43D. White Metal. MS-62 (PCGS).
25 mm. Predominantly silver-gray surfaces with glints of steel-gray in the fields. Semi-prooflike therein, the design elements are satiny in texture with otherwise sharp striking detail that comes up a bit short on the high points of the Libertas Americana portrait. Light handling marks account for the grade, none of which are worthy of individual concern. An exciting offering for the specialist, this is the only example of JAB-30 in this metallic composition that we have ever offered. Musante mentions a unique tin specimen in his 2002 Bolen reference, from a mintage of three pieces reported in the American Journal of Numismatics - presumably a reference to this white metal example, as certified by PCGS. Sure to see spirited bidding.
