CHINA. Cut Segment of Spanish Colonial 8 Reales, ND (Mid to Late-1700s).
Weight: 7.68 gms. An interesting piece, which based on the edge design began as a product of the Lima or Potosi mint sometime in the mid to late 1700's. At some point the coin traveled across the Pacific and began being chopmarked by local merchants and money exchanges. Based on the position of some of the chopmarks, the coin was still whole until it was cut into fragments, which in turn continued to circulate and be chopmarked.
