Pr-3426 (Byblos). In the name and types of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; monogram in left field. This early issue from Ptolemy is unusually well-struck and offers a handsome portrait of Herakles. The surfaces present deep cabinet toning with some impressively lustrous iridescent color in the fields, particularly on the reverse.
