SASSANIAN EMPIRE. Kavad I. Second Reign, A.D. 499-531. AR Drachm (4.02 gms), Airan (Susa) Mint, Dated RY 15 (A.D. 503/4). CHOICE EXTREMELY FINE.
cf. Sellwood-52; SC Tehran-333. Obverse: Crowned bust right; Reverse: Fire altar with ribbons and attendants; star and crescent flanking flames, date to left, mint signature to right. A gently handled piece with sharp details and lustrous fields. Surfaces are nicely toned with hints of iridescent color.
