CORINTHIA. Corinth. AR Stater (8.41 gms), ca. 405-345 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Fine Style.
HGC-4, 1837; Pegasi-282. Obverse: Pegasos walking left; Ϙ below; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; grape bunch behind. A rather RARE type, arguably the finest example found on CoinArchives. While the present example exhibits some corrosion on the upper part of the obverse, the piece was otherwise very sparingly handled and retains impressive originality. The reverse is particularly appealing, with well-struck details in fine style surrounded by gorgeous iridescent toning with full underlying luster.
