Description

PHILIPPINES. Treasury of the Philippines. 1 Peso, 1939. P-Unlisted. Printers Model. Uncirculated.
A printer's model for this unadopted 1939 1 Peso design, housed in a blue booklet by TDLR. This printer's model is interesting as pieces have been pasted together to show what the design could have looked like, and the details & color are marvelous. This note would have been a drastic shift away from the USBEP issued notes during the era, which were rather boring compared to this model. The portrait at left is of Manuel L. Quezon, who served as the president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 until his death in 1944. This design most likely did not get into production due to the outbreak of the Second World War, as the Japanese would have been advancing through the Pacific and England was mobilizing for war in Europe. Wear is noticed to the binding, along with the cover. Minor toning/spotting on the note.

Estimate: $5000.00- $10000.00
