S-3809; KM-695; ESC-644 (R2). By W. Wyon. Plain edge. A VERY RARE and extremely enchanting proof pattern issue, this exceptional specimen employs a rather deep cabinet tone and subtle frosting upon the devices, ultimately yielding a charming cameo nature with respect to the deep color. Tied with just one other for the top spot in the NGC census, the intense importance of this attractive example cannot be overstated.
