GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Guineas, 1688. London Mint. James II. NGC AU Details--Obverse Repaired.
S-3397A; Fr-292; KM-460.1. Despite the minor repair to the obverse, taking the form of some tooling to smooth out some roughness in the fields, this impressive specimen nevertheless retains great detail and dazzles with enticing brilliance. It also emanates from the final year of the brief reign of James II--the same year in which James would flee to France and be replaced by his protestant daughter Mary and her Dutch husband, William.
