GREAT BRITAIN. Commonwealth. Shilling, 1651. London Mint; mm: sun/-. NGC MS-63.
S-3217; N-2724; KM-390.1; ESC-97 (prev. ESC-984C). "COMONWEALTH" variety. Obverse: St. George's shield within wreath composed of laurel branch and palm frond; Reverse: Two shield bearing St. George's cross (England) and harp (Ireland); XII (mark of value) above. An incredible survivor, this Choice minor dazzles with elegant toning and some hints of brilliance remaining in the protected areas. Meanwhile, the spelling error in "commonwealth" is quite bold and unmistakable.
