CZECHOSLOVAKIA. Gold Medallic Ducat, 1934. Kremnica Mint. NGC MS-67.
Fr-16; KMX-14.1; Novotny-VI.D (RRRR). Mintage: 288. By: Anton Ham. Obverse: St. Catherine kneeling in prayer and supplication, mining equipment before her being illuminated by the glory of God from a radiant cloud; behind her, arms of Hungary-Anjou and flowering plant, all within hexagon; Reverse: Scenes of mining operations within a hexagon, further encircled by border of beads and legend. One of the most popular of issues in the Czechoslovakian series, this impressive Kremnica mines ducat delivers a Superb Gem appeal with a full strike and essentially no evidence of handling. The fields are nicely mirrored and the devices light frosted, created a semi-prooflike appearance. A wonderful Ducat that would make any collector of Czechoslovakian pieces proud to add to their numismatic cabinets.
