S-3767A; KM-Unlisted. Authorized 2 January 1804. Countermark: Bank of England Type II; Raised bust of George III right utilized from the then current 6 Pence. Applied to the obverse of a 1774-PTS JR Bolivia bust 4 Reales of Charles III (KM-54). The countermark is slightly unevenly applied from a somewhat worn punch with much remaining details and crisp well defined shaped border. A well worn problem free example of this VERY RARE denomination of the octagonal countermark variety that seldom appears on the market and with very few known. A wholesome representative of this popular countermarked issue displaying rich old mottled slate patina with light gray coloration atop of the devices offering a two tone effect.
