CUBA. Cuba - Mexico. 50 Centavos, ND (1872-77). PCGS EF-45.
KM-R5.1. Countermark: Variety B, Long and thin key. Applied to the obverse of an 1873-Go S Mexico Republic "Balance Scale" 50 Centavos (KM-407.4). The finest certified of the denomination on the PCGS population report. This rather pleasing survivor, quite a SCARCE denomination in the state of preservation, exhibits a bold full countermark on a nicely preserved host coin. Attractive rich mottled gray patina with areas of glossiness and hints of iridescence offers much originality.
