CUBA. Cuba - Mexico. Peso, ND (1872-77). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, EF Details.
KM-R7. Countermark: Variety A, Short and thick key. Applied to the obverse of a 1872-Mo M Mexico Republic "Balance Scale" Peso (KM-408.5). The countermark is bold, even and clear on a nicely detailed host displaying rich attractive mottled gray patina with hints of iridescent hues amongst the devices. Close inspection of the reverse reveals areas of slight surface porosity accounting for the details designation, but is long since toned over offering a pleasing appearance. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of this SCARCE type that is pleasing to the eye and wholesome looking.
