KM-2.1; Faulkner-Group D (D.3. for host date). Weight: 21.46 gms. Issued by local authority of September 1813. Countermark: 10-rayed incuse sun burst. Applied to the obverse of a 1805-Mo TH Mexico Bust 8 Reales of Charles IV. A VERY RARE and important issue that seldom comes to market. The countermark is easily recognizable with slight degradation near the edge on a well worn host lacking many details. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now slightly subdued by light monochrome tone. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of this important type great for the academic collector.
