JULIUS CAESAR. AR Denarius (3.46 gms), Military Mint Traveling with Caesar, 49 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Scratches, Banker's Mark.
Cr-443/1; CRI-9; Syd-1006; RSC-49. Obverse: Elephant advancing right, trampling upon horned serpent; Reverse: Emblems of the pontificate: simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex. Fairly well centered for this ever-popular issue, the present highly historical piece offers a light tone and even handling throughout, with the noted scratches occurring in and around the devices on the reverse.
