Description
"1783" (ca. 1820) Washington Military Bust Copper. Musante GW-109E, Baker-4, Vlack 5-D, W-10190. Large Military Bust. MS-62 BN (NGC).
Dominant deep olive and steel-brown patina gives way to faded rose-red color at the borders. Sharply struck throughout with a pleasingly smooth appearance in hand. This piece represents a "rare" (per Musante, 2016) die marriage of an otherwise readily available Military Bust copper type that is sure to appeal to variety specialists.
