GREAT BRITAIN. Fantasy Gold Crown, "1936" (1955). London (Pinches) Mint. Edward VIII. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo.
KMX-M2C; Giordano-FM-1B. Mintage: 10 (purportedly). Plain edge. By Pinches for G. Hearn. Of the HIGHEST RARITY, this dazzling fantasy issue produced less than two decades after the abdication of the Duke of Windsor presents a great cameo nature with tremendous balance between mirroring of the fields and frosting of the devices. Meanwhile, the reverse design of St. George slaying the dragon is rendered in a delightful flair of Art Deco--an homage to a style that would have fit the time in which the Duke's coronation would have taken place. Compare to another example of the equivalent grade, which realized a total of $15,600 in January 2021.
