1889 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-60 (PCGS).
A satin to softly frosted beauty with sharp striking detail and vivid reddish-rose color. More plentiful in Mint State than a mintage of 2,300 circulation strikes might imply, the 1889 was saved in significant numbers as the final issue of this denomination. Survivors are scarce in an absolute sense, however, with type collector pressure resulting in particularly strong demand for attractive examples, as here.
