1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 10-L, W-6280. Rarity-2. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. EF-45 (PCGS).
156.2 grains. Predominantly chocolate-brown with a streak of darker color across the Indian and subtle reddish-tan and medium-brown undertones elsewhere. Glossy and pleasing with full, well balanced detail that is only lightly worn. Some as-made planchet streaks are noted at the right side borders, mostly on the reverse, and there are a few minor rim nicks and rim filing left of the date. As one of the more available die varieties, this piece would make for an ideal date or type coin at the Choice EF grade level.
PCGS# 688349.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex First Pennsylvania, April 2000.
