Description

1842-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 7-E. Small Date, Small Letters. AU-55 (NGC). CAC.
Warm, even, deep honey-gold color blankets surfaces that also exhibit pale rose peripheral highlights. Striking detail is generally sharp, and there are no areas of mentionable softness. Also conspicuous by its absence in a Dahlonega Mint gold coin is an abundance of detracting marks. The in hand appearance is quite smooth overall, in fact, and a light reeding mark in the upper reverse field is worth little more than passing notice. Satiny in texture with appreciable luster, this is an undeniably PQ coin in a Choice AU 1842-D half eagle that readily upholds the validity of CAC approval.
PCGS# 8210. NGC ID: 25SX.
CAC Population: 20 in all AU grades.
