Pekin, Illinois. $100 1882 Brown Back. Fr. 523. The German-American NB. Charter #3770. PMG Very Fine 25.
A monster offering for this Tazewell County issuing bank, as this is the only $100 Brown Back known to the bank according to Track and Price. The German-American National Bank was chartered in 1887, and issued $1,799,480 during its operating tenure. The bank changed titles to the American National Bank, and issued currency through 1935, with $4,650 in large size reported out at close. The PMG comments "Pinholes."
