Kaighn's Point, New Jersey. Kaighn & Stone. 1862 25 Cents. PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ. Remainder.
(Wait UNL) 1862. Remainder. Red and black printing. Elaborate upper vignette of barrels and bags of corn. Several colorful “25” protectors. Printed on the back of Bank of Pennsylvania drafts. Advertising at right states “Dealers in Flour, Feed and Coal, Kaighn's Point Avenue, ab, Front, Kaighn's Point, New Jersey.” A rare piece located in Camden County. The ferry from Kaighn's Point into Philadelphia was a particularly important part of nineteenth century commerce in the area. We do not know much about Kaighn & Stone, but the business of Elias Kaighn was bought out by Sitley & Son (Arthur M. and son Frank B.) in 1886.
