Description

1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-46. Rarity-3. Head of 1794. VF-25 (PCGS).
Pleasing olive brown surfaces that are free from serious marks and appear smooth at arm's length, just barely microporous under a glass. Boldly struck with nicely balanced detail including full border dentils on both sides. Interesting late die state, DS4 per Chuck Heck's new reference on 1794 large cent die states, with heavy die cracks across the lower obverse and a triangular internal cud break above the 4.
PCGS# 35603. NGC ID: 223P.
Ex George Ramont, March 21, 1972; Jules Reiver; Heritage's sale of the Jules Reiver Collection, January 2006, lot 19210; Dan Trollan; Goldberg's sale of the Dan Trollan Collection, January 2019, lot 158.
