Union. Army of the Potomac. VI Corps, Battery A, Massachusetts Light Artillery Badge. Silver. Extremely Fine.
87.5 mm x 39 mm, greatest dimensions. 16.26 grams. A two-part badge, the lower part cross-shaped, the front inscribed 6TH / CORPS / ARMY OF THE POTOMAC, the back inscribed JAMES S. ROWLAND. The cross is suspended from a circular hanger with crossed cannons, flames at top, the front of which is inscribed BATTERY A / MASS. LGT ARTY. The pin is missing from the back of the hanger. Minor staining to the back of the cross is noted, otherwise all surfaces are lightly to moderately toned silver-gray. Intriguing type!
