1787 Fugio Cent. Pointed Rays. Newman 8-B, W-6740. Rarity-2. UNITED STATES, 4 Cinquefoils. MS-62 BN (PCGS).
Frosty medium brown with peeps of mint red in some of the letters. Cartwheel luster turns around each side and reveals absolutely no marks, spots, or flaws. Weakly struck at the lower obverse, affecting BUSINESS, and the corresponding upper reverse as is often the case to some extent with the Newman 8-B variety. But what this coin lacks in strike it makes up for in outstanding surface quality and luster of the sort normally only seen on higher graded Mint State examples. Overall a fresh and pleasing piece that would make a nice example of the UNITED STATES Guide Book variety in a high grade major variety set of Fugio cents.
