All obverse motifs are sharply rendered and crisp on this enticing piece, which side also exhibits subtle antique gold tinting to dominant pewter gray patina. A few minor handling marks and carbon flecks preclude a Choice grade, but none are individually distracting, and the eye appeal is superior at the assigned level. This rare cliche from the original obverse die would serve as a significant addition to a specialized collection alongside early strikings of this handsome, yet challenging medallic type.
