Pair of Philatelic Items.
Included are: a May 10, 1859 stamped letter originating from Havre, France and addressed to New Orleans with a vertical strip of four French 1854 20 cent stamps affixed. Several cancellations and hand stamps are present, the most notable of which is a bold, red FROM STEAMER / ALINE. The steamboat Aline was built in 1858 in Jeffersonville, Indiana and was taken over by the Confederates during the Civil War. Also included is a large envelope with 14 Vatican stamps with cancellations dated 1952.
