Wells River, Vermont. $5 1902 Red Seal. Fr. 587. The NB of Newbury. Charter #1406. PCGS Currency Very Fine 30.
One of only two Red Seal $5s from the National Bank of Newbury at Wells River VT presently known (the other appears in this sale as well), it more than lives up to its VF 30 grade. Crisp white paper, rich red embossing, and just a few light folds are exactly what "old school" graders defined as "Very Fine." Top notch eye appeal and utterly free from any problems, this note realized a bid of $2,990 when last sold in November 2003.
