1883 Hawaii Dollar. Medcalf-Russell 2CS-5. AU-55 (NGC).
A generally silver-gray example with enhancing blushes of iridescent steel-olive, powder blue and golden-apricot to both sides. The scarcest and most conditionally challenging of the 1883 Kingdom of Hawaii silver issues, the dollar has a mintage of 500,000 pieces, 453,652 examples of which were redeemed. The typically encountered survivor in today's market is circulated to one degree or another, often impaired due to cleaning or other problems. This straight-graded Choice AU is sure to catch the eye of astute Hawaiiana collectors.
