Up until tonight, just one Brown Back $5 was available to collectors from this bank, with this note being a new & welcomed addition to the current census. The Whitman National Bank was issued in 1891 and issued a meager $332,730 during its tenure, with just $510 reported out for large size in 1935 at the end of the National Currency era. This example is far superior to the other $5 Brown Back known on the bank, which has not made a public auction appearance since 2011.
