Haverhill, Massachusetts. $5 1902 Red Seal. Fr. 587. The Merrimack NB. Charter #633. PCGS Currency Very Fine 30 PPQ.
This long-lived and prolific Essex County bank (Chartered in 1864 and closed in 1934) issued the full range of National banknotes. The 1902 Red Seals however are quite scarce with only three $5 notes listed on the Census. With Premium Paper Quality (PPQ) and a bright red overprint it appears the equal of the example sold in May 2009 for $1,725.
