1874-S Liberty Head Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC.
An attractively original piece bathed in warm honey-gold with tinges of pale rose also very much in evidence. Boldly defined and appreciably lustrous for the assigned grade. Just 10,000 pieces were produced for this issue at a time when gold coins enjoyed strong commercial demand on the West Coast and, indeed, the rigors of circulation claimed the vast majority of examples. Even circulated survivors in VF and EF are scarce, confirming the significance of this offering for advanced gold enthusiasts.
