Description

Fr. 269. 1896 $5 Silver Certificate. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.

Bruce - Roberts signature combination. High-grade examples of this stunning "Electricity" design are always a sight to behold when offered publicly. The engraving is one of the most beautiful to have been featured on United States currency, and it can be argued that this is the most attractive designs to have been found on a note from any country. The engraving was done by C.F.C Smillie, and was based from a painting by Walter Shirlaw. The paper is bright and accentuates the darkly inked primary design. The reverse displays motifs from the Gilded Age, with Grant depicted at left and Sheridan at right.

Estimate: $10000.00 - $15000.00
