Description

RI-214. Rhode Island. November 6, 1775. 10 Shillings. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 50 Details. Small Repairs, Small Edge Tear.

No. 4283. Well signed by John Dexter, John Cole, and John G. Wanton. Printed by John Carter. Due within five years. Masterfully printed on white laid paper. Five thousand notes were printed of this higher denomination and, in 1777, were called in for redemption by November 1, 1778. A very scarce series of Rhode Island notes that did not pay interest. PCGS Banknote cites Small Repairs; Small Edge Tear as the reasons for the Details grade. A perusal of auction records shows that this is easily one of the nicest, if not the very nicest, known.

Estimate: $1000.00 - $1500.00
