"1787" (ca. 1860) Fugio Cent. "New Haven Restrike". Newman 104-FF, W-17570. Rarity-5. Silver. AU-53 (PCGS).
174.4 grains. A rare and desirable silver striking of the enigmatic New Haven Restrike Fugio Cents. Pleasing light silvery-gray surfaces that are lightly worn on the high points of the design yet retain traces of mint luster in the fields. Per the account of Horatio Rust, the early coin dealer who was allegedly involved in the creation and/or distribution of these coins, only 50 pieces were struck in silver.
