1942 Mercury Dime. Proof-68 * (NGC).
Crescents of vivid cobalt blue, pinkish-rose and golden-apricot iridescence ring the peripheries on both sides and explain the coveted * designation from NGC. The centers are more reserved in silver-olive, yet equally attractive, and all areas are expectably pristine for the assigned grade. From the final year of Proof Mercury dime coinage, and a specimen that would be difficult to improve upon either technically or aesthetically.
