Obverse: Soldier, with head bandaged, standing slightly right, holding rifle and with gun facing slightly right; Reverse: Union Jack encompassing floral bouquet. Edge : Plain. Light gray surfaces and some subtle toning elevate the appeal of this interesting medal, which retains some lustrous brilliance in the protected areas. Includes an old envelope mentioning it as the "Absent-Minded Beggar Medal," though also as being [silver] plated. The iconography of this piece draws from a Kipling poem mentioned on the envelope.
