Obverse: Mermaid swims left holding cornucopia in arm; Reverse: Chateau Atlantique sailing right on ocean. Likely made to commemorate the launching of a ship called the Chateau Atlantique in 1912 by the Compagnie generale Transatlantique SA of Paris. This particular company was one of the leading shipping conglomerates in the world at the time, with active operations in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. This piece offers a good strike and elegant design, with light evidence of handling.
