BRITISH GUIANA. Copper Stiver Token, 1838. William IV. PCGS AU-55.
KM-Tn1; Prid-60. Obverse: "TRADE & NAVIGATION", Britannia seated left holding caduceus and olive branch; Reverse: "ONE STIVER" within outer inscription "PURE COPPER PREFERRABLE TO PAPER". According to Pridmore, these pieces were issued by a Mr. Balgarnie who lived on Water Street in Georgetown, and appears to have been stylized after an earlier Conder token. This example demonstrates good strike quality and very little handling, save for some contact.
