Description

PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy III Euergetes, 246-221 B.C. AR Tetradrachm, Joppa Mint, dated RY 2 (245 B.C.). NGC Ch VF. Scratches.

Svor-1039 var. (lower monogram); SNG Cop-Unlisted. Obverse: Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck; Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; two monograms to left; to right, B (date) above A. This choice circulated Ptolemy III issue has an authentic charm to it, and though there are noted scratches, these are confirmed to one area on the obverse and not particularly deep.
