SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 406-367 B.C. AV 10 Litrai (Didrachm) (0.68 gms), ca. 405 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 1/5. Damage.

HGC-2, 1290; SNG ANS-316-8. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; Reverse: Aegis with facing gorgoneion in center. A RARE issue, this piece does exhibit some unfortunate damage upon the reverse. Nevertheless a great chance at a budget example of the type.

Ex: Collection of a Gentleman. Ex: Hanbery Collection (Goldberg 96 - 2/2017) Lot # 1548 (purchased from Frank Kovacs, ca. 1982).
