ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.29 gms), ca. 280-272 B.C. CHOICE VERY FINE.

HGC-1, 884; Vlasto-727-9; HN Italy-1007. Obverse: Warrior, holding two spears and preparing to hurl third, on horse rearing right; Reverse: Taras, holding kantharos and trident, riding dolphin left. Very nicely struck and with wear on only the high elements of the design. A bit of common flan roughness is noted for accuracy.
