ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.63 gms), ca. 280-272 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.

HGC-1, 880; Vlasto-868-72; HN Italy-998. Obverse: Nude youth on horse right, holding reins and crowning horse; ΦIΛOKPA to left, monogram below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding crowning Nike and trident, riding dolphin left. A decently struck example of a somewhat cruder type, with relatively good centering. Some dark toning hugs the devices on relatively pristine surfaces.
