Description

CORINTHIA. Corinth. AR Stater (8.56 gms), ca. 345-307 B.C. NGC Ch AU★, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5. Fine Style.

HGC-4, 1848; Pegasi-399; BCD Corinth-114 (this coin). Obverse: Pegasos flying left; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; A below; to right, bee left. Undoubtedly one of the most attractive examples from this popular series that one is likely to encounter, this elegant specimen features a well centered strike of very fine style on each side, along with golden-champagne toning accentuating the devices and a particularly strong strike. The eye appeal is resoundingly evident, and the tremendous pedigree augments its desirability that much more. A true masterpiece of ancient art and preservation through the ages.
